At Charles University, you can connect to Wi-Fi via the Eduroam network.

This network is designed for students, employees and visitors and allows safe and comfortable internet connection not only at Charles University, but also at other universities and institutions not only in the Czech Republic, but even abroad, if they are connected to the Eduroam network.

All you need is login details from Charles University – your CAS account – and you can connect at any location where Eduroam is available.

You log into the Eduroam network using your username and password - see access data.

The user name consists of an eight-digit personal number and domain (realm), e.g. .

You will find your personal number under your photo on your CU ID card.

You can easily set your password for Eduroam by logging into your CAS account. For security reasons, a different password is used to connect to Eduroam than the one you use to log in to CAS.

How to get an account for Eduroam?

  • All university staff and students can set their Eduroam password after logging into their CAS account.

  • For security reasons it is necessary to use a different password for Eduroam than for logging into the computer. This password is referred to as a "network" or "secondary" password.

  • In case of its misuse, the primary password to the domain, computer etc. is not compromised and the user can easily set a new password - more information can be found here.

How do I connect to the Eduroam network?

  • Search among available WiFi networks on your device - eduroam network.

  • Select this network and enter your username in the form: .

  • Enter your password set in your CAS account.

  • After confirmation, you will connect automatically.

What is a uk-events network and how do I connect?

  • The uk-events network is a special network for visitors of events (e.g. conferences, seminars) that take place in the premises of the Rector's Office of Charles University (Ovocný trh 560/5 + Celetná 20, Prague 1).

  • To log on to this network, you need a temporary password. This password is requested exclusively by the event organizers, who then pass the password on to the participants.

  • Requesting a temporary password for uk-events is required at least 2 business days before the event.

I can't connect. Where can I find the installer to download?

To connect to the Eduroam network, the device must have a so-called suplikant. It is a small program that provides the necessary user verification for the network. All modern operating systems contain such program.

Which WiFi network can I connect to?

  • Use the Eduroam network - it is university Wi-Fi designed for all students and employees of Charles University. It works safely, free of charge and you can also use it at other universities involved in the Eduroam network.
