You log into the Eduroam network using your username and password - see access data.

The user name consists of an eight-digit personal number and domain (realm), e.g. .

You will find your personal number under your photo on your CU ID card.

You can easily set your password for Eduroam by logging into your CAS account. For security reasons, a different password is used to connect to Eduroam than the one you use to log in to CAS.

• All university staff and students can set their Eduroam password after logging into their CAS account.

• For security reasons it is necessary to use a different password for Eduroam than for logging into the computer. This password is referred to as a "network" or "secondary" password.

• In case of its misuse, the primary password to the domain, computer etc. is not compromised and the user can easily set a new password - more information can be found here.

Some faculties and parts of Charles University build their own networks, are connected to AAI Eduroam independently of the ICT Charles University and/or run their own databases of users:

• Centre for Theoretical Studies of Charles University.

• Enter your password set in your CAS account.

• After confirmation, you will connect automatically.

• The uk-events network is a special network for visitors of events (e.g. conferences, seminars) that take place in the premises of the Rector's Office of Charles University (Ovocný trh 560/5 + Celetná 20, Prague 1).

• To log on to this network, you need a temporary password. This password is requested exclusively by the event organizers, who then pass the password on to the participants.

• Requesting a temporary password for uk-events is required at least 2 business days before the event.

To connect to the Eduroam network, the device must have a so-called suplikant. It is a small program that provides the necessary user verification for the network. All modern operating systems contain such program.

Which WiFi network can I connect to?

• Use the Eduroam network - it is university Wi-Fi designed for all students and employees of Charles University. It works safely, free of charge and you can also use it at other universities involved in the Eduroam network.

What login details should I use for Eduroam?

• You must enter your as your username. The password is set on ldapuser.cuni.cz in the section Other accounts.

What network to use as a visitor to a university that does not have a login for Eduroam from the home institution?

• For events organised by the CU, temporary login details are created for the uk-events network. The password will be supplied by the event organizer.

How do I set up Eduroam Wi-fi on my mobile?

• Majority of modern mobile devices can set themselves after choosing the Eduroam network. Older models (mainly Android) sometimes need manual settings. You can find instructions here.

Can I use Eduroam outside Charles University?

• Yes, Eduroam works at hundreds of universities and institutions around the world.

What to do if I cannot connect to Eduroam?

• Most common errors:

  • you only enter a username without ,

  • you have an outdated password in CAS,

  • you need to reset the certificate or use the official configuration tool.
